- the Cabinet having observed the loss incurred by the two State Television Channels due to the decision made in the year 2011 to award the Broadcasting and Telecasting rights also to private television or radio channels exclusively dedicated for sports changing the earlier decision to award same to the Sri Lanka Rupavahini Corporation and the Sri Lanka Broadcasting Corporation and also having noted that an injustice has been caused as the CSN which had received the license had not made an Islandwide coverage the broadcasting and telecasting in the Sinhala and Tamil languages had not reached the listeners and viewers in remote areas, the Cabinet decided to appoint a Committee to make recommendations to rectify this situation.
