- the joint proposal made by the Minister of Home Affairs and Fisheries Hon. Joseph Michael Perera and the Acting Minister of Foreign Affairs Hon. Ajith P. Perera for a declaration of peace to be read over at the National Independence Day ceremony to be held on the 4th February 2015 to express solidarity and empathy with all victims of the tragic conflict which prevailed in the country over a length of time and pledge collective commitment to ensure non-repetition, taking into consideration the recommendations made by the Lessons Learnt and Reconciliation Commission (LLRC), in paragraph 9.284 and 9.285 of its Report, was approved by the Cabinet.
