- Hon. Arumugan Thondaman, Minister of Livestock and Rural Community Development, brought to the notice of the Cabinet the prevalence of Avian Influenza (Bird Flu) in the villages of Chennithala, Aalapuzha and Kerala in South India, as reported to him. The proposal made by the Minister to take preventive measures for its entry into Sri Lanka, specially with the importation of poultry products during this festive season, was approved by the Cabinet.
