Establishment of the proposed Sri Lanka State Audit Service as a Special Service independent of other Services

- the functions of the Auditor General are specified in terms of Article 154 of the Constitution wherein he is required to carry out annual audit of financial statements relating to the Ministries, Departments, State Corporations, Provincial Councils, Local Authorities and Foreign funded Projects and report the position to Parliament. The Sri Lanka Audit Service and Audit Examiners' Service assist the Auditor General in the performance and discharge of the statutory duties and functions entrusted to him. The proposal made by H.E. the President, to proceed with the activities relating to the establishment of the proposed Sri Lanka State Audit Service as a special service, was approved by the Cabinet.
