- the Government has observed the need to implement various administrative and social relations programmes to consolidate social integration and reconciliation of the community in the Eastern Province. It is proposed to establish an active operational centre named “International Relations Centre in the Eastern Province”, in Panama, Lahugala, aimed at creating a conducive administrative and social background centred around the Eastern Province for the people in the region, similar to the operational centre presently functioning in the Northern Province. This complex is also intended to provide lodging facilities for visiting Heads of State and VVIPS as well as facilities for the conduct of discussions and seminars at international level. The proposal made by H.E. the President, to proceed with the relevant activities, was approved by the Cabinet.
