Access to Learning Award 2014 - Sri Lankan e-Library Nenasala Project won the International Award titled “Access to Learning” together with LKR million 286 (US 2.2 million) - the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation presented its Access to Learning Award together with 1 million US dollars and Microsoft software worth 1.2 million US dollars to the Sri Lanka Nenasala e?Library Project implemented under the Information and Communication Technology Agency of Sri Lanka (ICTA), in recognition of its work of providing increased and affordable access to computers and the Internet, specially to the people living in rural and remote areas of the country. Sri Lanka's Nenasala Project was selected for this prestigious award out of 200 applications received worldwide. This information was provided to the Cabinet by Hon. Ranjith Siyambalapitiya, Minister of Telecommunication and Information Technology. |
