Protracted Relief and Recovery Operation (PRRO) in Sri Lanka

- the objective of the PRRO Programme is to strengthen national capacities to address acute malnutrition among children aged from 06 to 59 months and pregnant, lactating women while improving their food security. The World Food Programme has agreed to extend the food aid assistance under the Protracted Relief and Recovery Operation (PRRO) for the purpose. The total cost of the PRRO Programme is US $34,799,036, out of which US $23,482,866 will be direct grant assistance and US $19,547,890 will be the food contribution. This Programme is to be implemented in Mannar, Vavuniya, Mullaitivu, Kilinochchi and Jaffna Districts in the Northern Province and the estimated number of beneficiaries is 435,000. The proposal made by H.E. the President, in his capacity as the Minister of Finance and Planning, to sign the Letter of Understanding with the World Food Programme for the above purpose, was approved by the Cabinet.
