- the proposal made by Hon. S.B. Dissanayaka, Minister of Higher Education, to award the following construction contracts of Universities, as recommended by the Standing Cabinet Appointed Procurement Committee (SCAPC), was approved by the Cabinet:

* a five storied building complex for the Faculty of Applied Sciences at the Trincomalee Campus of the Eastern University at a total cost of Rs.331,945,891.63;

* a five storied building complex for the Information Technology Centre at the Trincomalee Campus of the Eastern University at a total cost of Rs.253,767,500.00;

* a four storied building complex for the Library at the Trincomalee Campus of the Eastern University at a total cost of Rs.271,003,625.00;

* development of the Faculty of Agriculture, University of Peradeniya at a total cost of 797,282,344.98; and

* a building complex for the Faculty of Information Technology - Phase II - University of Moratuwa at a total cost of Rs.127,760,923.99.
