- the Government of Sri Lanka has received a loan of US Dollars 40 million from Economic Development Cooperation Fund (EDCF) of Korea towards the cost of improvements to Hatton - Nuwara Eliya section (46.75 km) of the Avissawella - Hatton - Nuwara Eliya Road (A7). Among the changes to be made to the original project proposal, is the inclusion of the construction of an underpass at Nanu Oya Railway crossing and a tunnel at Kotagala. The proposal made by H.E. the President, in his capacity as the Minister of Highways, Ports and Shipping, to revise the original contract sum and to extend the date of completion of works from 2014?06?01 to 2015?03?02, as recommended by the Standing Cabinet Appointed Procurement Committee (SCAPC), was approved by the Cabinet.
