- on an invitation extended by the Executive Director of the Asian Forum of Parliamentarians on Population and Development (AFPPD), Hon. Tissa Karalliyedda, Minister of Child Development and Women’s Affairs attended the above Conference. The main objective of the Conference was to provide an opportunity for Parliamentarians from the Asia Pacific Region to meet and discuss human trafficking issues in South East Asia and to share each other's experience on the subject. The delegates who attended the above Conference appreciated the achievements made by Sri Lanka in combating human trafficking in the country and also the positive steps taken to eliminate gender?based violence.
