- the Government of India has allocated Rs.300 million each for the Faculty of Agriculture and the Faculty of Engineering through Small Development Project (SDP) Grant Assistance. With the Rs.300 million allocated to the Faculty of Agriculture, it is proposed to set up a Centre for Skills Development which will provide facilities for an Auditorium, a Computer Unit, a Library and an Indoor Games Complex. With the Rs.300 million allocated for the Engineering Faculty, it is proposed to set up a building which would house the Civil and Mechanical Engineering Departments with the necessary equipment and furniture. The proposal made by Hon. S.B. Dissanayaka, Minister of Higher Education, to proceed with the relevant activities, was approved by the Cabinet.
