- steps are being taken by the Ministry of Education to set up the above scholarship fund from the donation of US $100,000 made by Mrs. Lee Young?ae, the main actress of the popular Tele Drama “Sujatha Diyani” telecast in this country. It is intended to provide financial assistance through this Fund, in a sum of Rs.500/- per student per month for selected female students from low income families with the highest qualifications following the G.C.E. Advanced Level Technology subject stream from each District, as the first stage. The above proposal was made by Hon. Bandula Gunawardena, Minister of Education and it was decided to implement the proposal through the Public Trustee.
