- Teaching Hospital, Batticoloa is the main hospital in the Eastern Province. Construction of Stage I of the Cancer Ward Complex of this hospital was awarded to the Central Engineering Consultancy Bureau (CECB) which is a Government concern and the work is now in progress. The proposal made by Hon. Maithripala Sirisena, Minister of Health, to award the contract for the construction work of Stage II of the Project also to the CECB, was approved by the Cabinet.
