- based on the concept of Colombo Port City Development Project, a land of 233 hectares is planned to be reclaimed adjoining the Breakwater of the Colombo Port Expansion Project towards Galle Face Green. This project leads to the creation of a new city which uplifts the image of the Port of Colombo as a leading hub city. The proposed Port City will consist of luxury hotels and apartment complexes, shopping malls, space for modern offices for the corporate sector, leisure and recreational activities etc. The proposal made by H.E. the President in his capacity as the Minister of Highways, Ports and Shipping, to proceed with the relevant activities, was approved by the Cabinet.
