Implementation of the Integrated Timetables

- Sri Lanka Transport Board (SLTB|) and the private operators daily operate around 4,314 and 17,129 buses respectively to cater to six million passengers island-wide. Non-operation of these buses on integrated timetable has caused immense difficulties to passengers. The proposal made by Hon. A.H.M. Fawzie, Minister (Senior) for Urban Affairs and the Chairman of the Cabinet Sub-Committee appointed for the purpose, to implement integrated timetables with a ratio of 60% - 40% between Private and SLTB buses respectively, in order to avoid unhealthy competition between SLTB and the private operators and to provide a better transport service to the public, with effect from 2014?01?15, was approved by the Cabinet.
