- the Government of Japan, in addition to the Annual Yen Loan Package, provides grant assistance annually under various Grant Schemes one of which is the Non-project Grant Aid Scheme, with a view to strengthening friendship and cooperation between the two countries. The Government of Japan has agreed to grant assistance in a sum of Japanese Yen 400 million under this Non-project Grant Aid Scheme for the financial year 2013/2014 which is to be utilized for provision of medical equipment to Teaching Hospitals, Secondary Hospitals and Medical Research Institutes of the Ministry of Health to improve the healthcare facilities for the upliftment of health standards of Sri Lankan citizens. The proposal made by H.E. the President, in his capacity as the Minister of Finance and Planning, to sign Exchange of Notes with the Government of Japan for the purpose, was approved by the Cabinet.
