- according to available statistics there has been a paddy surplus of 1,467,545 MT in 2012 and in addition, production of crops such as maize, green gram, cowpea, soya bean has increased and measures have been taken by the authorities concerned for the timely supply of fertilizer, seeds, water, loan facilities, new technological equipment, stores facilities etc.  Accordingly, the proposal made by H.E. the President, in his capacity as the Minister of Finance and Planning, to submit the Gazette Extraordinary No.1819/32 dated 2013-07-18, to repeal the Regulations laid down in the Gazette Extraordinary No.1764/9 dated  2012-06-27 to restrict exportation of rice under the Import and Export Control Act No.1 of 1969, to Parliament, was approved by the Cabinet.
