Construction of a four storeyed new building for the W.A. Silva Building which was damaged due to a landslide and modernization of the damaged main hall adjacent to it in Ke/St. Joseph's Balika Vidyalaya, Kegalle
- this school has a student population of about 4500 and is situated in close proximity to the Kandy - Colombo Road. Due to a landslide which occurred recently, W.A. Silva Hall adjacent to the side wall of the school had to be demolished and a part of the main hall had also been removed. The National Building Research Organization (NBRO) had inspected the location and submitted its recommendations on measures to be taken by the Ministry of Education. It is proposed to construct a new four storeyed building and renovate the partly damaged building. The proposal made by Hon. Bandula Gunawardena, Minister of Education, to proceed with the construction work, managing the expenditure involved for 2013 within the provisions already allocated and the balance to be sought in 2014, and to commence construction work after the retention wall of the school is constructed by the Road Development Authority in keeping with the accepted standards, was approved by the Cabinet.
