- a preparatory survey on traffic improvement project around new Kelani Bridge is being carried out by the Road Development Authority (RDA), in line with the proposed construction of the second new Kelani Bridge in collaboration with Japan International Co-operation Agency (JICA) and it has been revealed that the 2 overhead high tension transmission lines should be converted to underground cables to provide the required clearance to the proposed new Bridge and associated highway network.  The proposal made by Hon. Pavithra Wanniarachchi, Minister of Power and Energy to proceed with the activities relating to the shifting of the  High Voltage Transmission Lines, was approved by the Cabinet.
