- the above International Conference sponsored by the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) New York Office and organized by the Asian Forum of Parliamentarians' on Population and Development (AFPPD) is scheduled to be held in Colombo on 3rd and 4th October 2013.  Hon. D.M. Jayaratne, the Prime Minister and Hon. Chamal Rajapakse, the Speaker of Parliament, have been invited to grace the occasion and address the delegates.  The main objective of this meeting is to review the global progress made on International Conference on Population and Development (ICPD) Programme of Action from the perspective of young Parliamentarians. The outcome expected of this meeting will be that the Young Members of Parliament are adequately briefed and prepared to make positive contributions for the ICPD beyond 2014.  All expenses towards conducting of this meeting in Sri Lanka will be met by the UNFPA New York Office.  The proposal made by Hon. Tissa Karalliyadda, Minister of Child Development and Women's Affairs, to organize and conduct this meeting in Colombo, was approved by the Cabinet.
