- the Defence Services College has been commenced in Colombo to provide educational facilities to the Children of the three Forces and the Police.  Cabinet approval has already been granted to expand such facilities to other areas of the country.  The joint proposal made by H.E. the President, in his capacity as the Minister of Defence and Urban Development and Hon. Bandula Gunawardena, Minister of Education, to develop Wewagedara Junior School in Kurunegala as the 'Kurunegala Defence Services College' and to proceed with the activities thereto, was approved by the Cabinet.
