- Metro Colombo Urban Development Project (MCUDP) has been established under the Ministry of Defence and Urban Development as a World Bank Project funded by the International Bank for Reconstruction and Development (IBRD).  As a part of this project, it has been decided to rehabilitate the above section of the Galle  Road.  The proposal made by H. E. the President, in his capacity as the Minister of Defence and Urban Development to award the above contract to the lowest evaluated responsive bidder, as recommended by the Standing Cabinet Appointed Procurement Committee (SCAPC), was approved by the Cabinet.
