Weras Ganga Storm Water Drainage & Environment Improvement Project

this project has been formulated by the Sri Lanka Land Reclamation and Development Corporation (SLLR&DC) based on a hydrological study carried out by JICA together with SLLR&DC for the preparation of a Master Plan to control flooding in Nugegoda, Rattanapitiya, Borelasgamuwa, Maha Ela and Ratmalana areas.  Implementation of this project will mitigate frequent flooding in Weras Ganga Basin and also promote sustainable development activities and enhance environment improvement which will promote tourism industry in the relevant areas.  The total cost of the project is estimated to be Rs.14,227 million and is scheduled to be completed within 04 years.  The proposal made by H.E. the President, in his capacity as the Minister of Defence and Urban Development, to proceed with the activities relating to loan arrangements for the purpose, was approved by the Cabinet.
