- in keeping with the Government policy of strengthening the relations with African countries, H.E. the President visited Tanzania and participated at the Global 2013 Smart Partnership Dialogue in Dar es Salaam.  Sri Lanka's economic partnership with African countries has developed beyond trade and investments, reaching areas like knowledge sharing, skills development and technology transfer etc.  Leaders of the two countries expressed their great interest in establishing resident Diplomatic Missions in the respective capitals.  Both leaders witnessed the conclusion of Memoranda of Understanding in the field of tourism cooperation, economic and technical cooperation, and cultural cooperation.  Hon. (Prof.) G.L. Peiris, Minister of External Affairs submitted the above information and covering approval was granted by the Cabinet for the concluded Agreements / MoUs.
