- Rupees 1000 million has been allocated by the General Treasury to the National Housing Development Authority (NHDA) for the renovation of apartment housing complexes under the “Nagamu Puravara Programmes - 2013” and it is expected to renovate 25 housing schemes under this Programme.  Work on housing schemes up to the value of Rs.300 million has already commenced.  The proposal made by Hon. Wimal Weerawansa, Minister of Construction, Engineering Services, Housing and Common Amenities, to award the renovation activities of 17 housing schemes located within the Colombo Municipal area to the State Engineering Corporation, utilizing the funds already allocated, was approved by the Cabinet.
