- this project proposal includes a 400 meter and 200 meter synthetic running tracks, 400 meter natural running track, two pavilions, a cricket ground, an indoor-stadium, swimming pools, training centers and villas along with accommodation facilities for 200 persons to be built within a period of 5 years.  The total cost of the project is US $115 million.  The proposal made by Hon. Mahindananda Aluthgamage, Minister of Sports, to appoint a Cabinet Appointed Negotiating Committee (CANC) and a Technical Evaluation Committee (TEC) to evaluate the Project Proposal received, was approved by the Cabinet.
