- under this Project, it is proposed to construct a dam across Ulhiti Oya and divert water through a feeder canal to Rotagolla Tank and augment the irrigation supplies of the Nagadeepa  Scheme, which is a major Irrigation Scheme maintained by the Irrigation Department.  This Irrigation Scheme undergoes a severe water shortage during both seasons. The total cost of the Project is estimated to be Rs.1760 million, and an allocation of Rs.300 million has been provided in 2013 to commence the work of the Project.  The proposal made by Hon. Nimal Siripala de Silva, Minister of Irrigation and Water Resources Management, to entrust the work to the Central Engineering Consultancy Bureau (CECB) as recommended by the Standing Cabinet Appointed Procurement Committee (SCAPC), was approved by the Cabinet.
