- the Metro Colombo Urban Development Project has been established under the Ministry of Defence and Urban Development as a World Bank Project funded by the International Bank for Reconstruction and Development (IBRD).  The loan received from IBRD is expected to be utilized for various development projects in the Metro Colombo Region, and a part of it is to be utilized to rehabilitate the Galle Road and R.A. De Mel Mawatha from Bambalapitiya to City Limits.  The proposal made by H.E. the President, in his capacity as the Minister of Defence and Urban Development, to award the above contract as recommended by the Standing Cabinet Appointed Procurement Committee (SCAPC), was approved by the Cabinet.
