Rehabilitation and Improvement to Road Sections from Rakwana to Madampe and the reconstruction of Bridge (Karandana Bridge) on Polgahawela - Kegalla Road
- the Government of Sri Lanka has received a loan of US$ 40 million from the OPEC Fund for International Development for the rehabilitation and improvements to roads in the National Road Network. The proposal made by H.E. the President in his capacity as the Minister of Ports and Highways, to utilize a part of the above loan for the following, as recommended by Standing Cabinet Appointed Procurement Committee (SCAPC), was approved by the Cabinet:

* road section from Rakwana to Madampe (From 130.0 km to 143.93 km) on Galle - Deniyaya - Madampe Road (A17) at a cost of Rs.2,051,401,287.60; and

* reconstruction of Bridge No.3/2 (Karandana Bridge) on Polgahawela - Kegalla Road (A19) at a cost of Rs.247,659,812.50.
