Rehabilitation and Improvements to the Road Sections from Katugastota to Alawathugoda and from Alawathugoda to Palapathwela

- the government of Sri Lanka has received a loan of Saudi Riyal 225,000,000 (approximately US $60 million) from the Saudi Fund for Development, for the rehabilitation and improvement of about 144 km of the National Road network of Sri Lanka. A part of the above loan will be utilized for the following:

* rehabilitation and improvements to the road section from Katugastota to Alawathugoda (from 4.6 km to 15.57 km) on Kandy - Jaffna Road (A9) at a cost of Rs.767,037,382.82; and

* rehabilitation and improvements to the road section from Alawathugoda to Palapathwela (from 15.57 km to 32.54 km) on Kandy - Jaffna Road (A9) at a cost of Rs.949,155,320.32.

The proposal made by H.E. the President, in his capacity as the Minister of Ports and Highways, to award the above 2 contracts as recommended by the Standing Cabinet Appointed Procurement Committee (SCAPC), was approved by the Cabinet.
