Press briefing of Cabinet Decision taken on 2013-03-07

Sri Lanka Water Convention - 2013 - from 20th to 22nd March 2013

- pursuant to a decision taken by the United Nations to declare the year 2013 as the 'International Year of Water Co-operation' and also to commemorate the World Water Day scheduled for 22nd March, the Ministry of Water Supply and Drainage together with the National Water Supply and Drainage Board intends to organize a Water Convention at the BMICH from 20th to 22nd March 2013. The proposed Convention expects to bring together all possible stakeholders to create awareness and share experiences on Water Cooperation. An exhibition will also be held to coincide with the Convention. The proposal made by Hon. Dinesh Gunawardena, Minister of Water Supply and Drainage, to proceed with the programme was approved by the Cabinet.
