Recommendation of the Supreme Court to allow a 4th attempt to sit the G.C.E. (A/L) Examination for the affected students due to Z-Score issue in 2011 (A/L) Examination
- the following joint proposals submitted by Hon. S.B. Dissanayake, Minister of Higher Education and Hon. Bandula Gunawardena, Minister of Education, in keeping with the Supreme Court determination, were approved by the Cabinet.

(1) to allow students who sat for the G.C.E. (A/L) Examination for the 3rd and final time in the year 2011, to sit as the 4th and final attempt for the G.C.E. (A/L) Examination in 2013 under the syllabus for which the students wish to sit (New Syllabus or Old Syllabus) for the purpose of University admission, only for the academic year 2013/2014;

(2) to allow students who could have sat for the G.C.E. (A/L) Examination for the 3rd and final time, but who did not get the opportunity to sit for the said examination in 2012, to sit as the final attempt for the G.C.E. (A/L) Examination 2013 under the Syllabus for which the students wish to sit (New Syllabus or Old Syllabus) for the purpose of University admission; and

(3) to allow students who sat for the G.C.E. (A/L) Examination for the 3rd and final time in the year 2012, to sit as the 4th and final attempt for the G.C.E. (A/L) Examination in 2013 under the syllabus for which the students wish to sit (New Syllabus or Old Syllabus) for the purpose of University admission, only for the academic year 2013/2014).
