Press briefing of Cabinet Decision taken on 2013-02-14

Construction of Eight Storied Building for the 'Medical Education Resource Centre (MERC)' of the Postgraduate Institute of Medicine (PGIM), University of Colombo

- the proposal made by Hon. S.B. Dissanayake, Minister of Higher Education, for the construction of the above building to provide more accommodation, so as to increase the student intake by 30% for the Postgraduate Academic Programmes, with the view to overcome the shortage of specialists in various subject areas such as Microbiology, Pathology, Radiology and Psychiatry etc. and to commence the construction work in 2013 and complete the project within 2 years at a total cost of Rs.169 million, was approved by the Cabinet.
