Commemoration of the National Safety Day - 2012

- the objective of this event is to increase awareness of disasters among the public and the manner in which they should prepare themselves, particularly in response to disasters such as the Tsunami that took place on the 26th of December 2004. Commemorative ceremonies have been held continuously for the past 6 years in Galle, Ratnapura, Kandy, Kurunegala, Jaffna and Batticaloa Districts respectively. The proposal made by Hon. Mahinda Amaraweera, Minister of Disaster Management, to commemorate the National Safety Day - 2012 centered around Badulla District, in association with the relevant Ministries and Institutions, was approved by the Cabinet.
