Slave Island Re-development Project - Stage II, Colombo 02

- the Urban Development Authority (UDA) has launched several projects in the city of Colombo and the ongoing housing programme to resettle 65,000 families living in under-served settlement is one such project. An extent of 3 acres of land in Slave Island has been identified by the UDA for the purpose and the families occupying the said premises are to be provided housing apartments with all facilities on completion of the project, and until such time, they will be paid monthly rentals by the investor for the project, for which arrangement the occupants have consented. The proposal made by H.E. the President, in his capacity as the Minister of Defence and Urban Development, to proceed with the Stage II work of the project, was approved by the Cabinet.
