Road Sector Assistance Project Funded by the World Bank - Variations to Eight Civil Works Contracts for the Rehabilitation and Improvements to Roads

- the proposal made by H.E. the President, in his capacity as the Minister of Ports and Highways, to provide additional funds for the rehabilitation and improvements to the following road sections, due to escalation in prices, changes made to the original scope of works etc., as recommended by the Standing Cabinet Appointed Procurement Committee (SCAPC), was approved by the Cabinet. A major portion of funds required to meet the revised costs is available from the loan provided by the World Bank and the balance amount will be provided through domestic funds:
* Bandarawela - Hali Ela Road - 21.74 Km - additional Cost Rs.511,596,445.71
* Bandarawela - Welimada Road - 20.20 Km - additional Cost Rs.439,417,664.16
* Madawachchiya to Punewa on Kandy - Jaffna Road and Madawachchiya to NCP Boundary on Madawachchiya - Mannar - Talaimannar Road - 22.52 Km - additional Cost Rs.404,307,204.20
* Wellawaya - Siyambalanduwa Road - 69.27 Km. - additional Cost Rs.433,696,994.73
* Siyambalanduwa - Ampara - Karathivu Road - 77.82 Km. - additional Cost Rs.648,129,495.60
* Maradankadawela - Jayanthipura Road - 59.90 Km. - additional Cost Rs.631,405,871.75
* Jayanthipura - Tirikkondiadimadu Road - 68.86 Km. - additional Cost Rs.883,702,749.78
* Padeniya - Puttalam Road - 61.37 Km. - additional Cost Rs.620,743,207.24
