Extension of the period of the National Post Consumer Plastic Waste Management Project from 2013 to 2015

- the National Post Consumer Plastic Waste Management Project has been launched with the objective of minimizing the damage caused to the environment by plastic and is implemented under the guidance of the Ministry of Environment and the supervision of the Central Environment Authority. The project activities were initially implemented in the Colombo and Gampaha Districts and were subsequently expanded to the Districts of Kandy, Galle, Anuradhapura and Nuwara-Eliya in 2008 and thereafter to all areas of the country in 2009. Based on the proposal submitted by Hon. Anura Priyadharshana Yapa, Minister of Environment, approval was granted to continue the said project for a further period of one (01) year.
