Alienation of land at Uchchimunai Island in Kalpitiya Tourism Zone to be developed as an integrated Luxury Hotel Complex

- Kalpitiya Tourism Zone has been planned to be developed as a special tourism destination in Sri Lanka. Under this project, Uchchimunai Island (Northern Part) in Kalpitiya is to be given on a 99 year lease to an investor recommended by the Standing Cabinet Appointed Review Committee. Hotels, Resorts, Water Villas, Spas, Golf Courses etc. are to be constructed and other leisure and recreation facilities provided to meet the present day needs of tourists. The proposal made by Hon. Basil Rajapaksa, Minister of Economic Development, to proceed with the project, was approved by the Cabinet.
