Press briefing of Cabinet Decision taken on 2012-10-10

World Habitat Day - 2012 - Housing and Settlement Development Program in Colombo and other Urban areas -

the proposal made by Hon. Wimal Weerawansa, Minister of Construction, Engineering Services, Housing and Common Amenities, to expend a sum of Rs.15.6 million for the renovation of housing units under the National Housing Development Authority and to meet the housing needs of the low income community in the city of Colombo and for the implementation of the undermentioned projects aimed at offering a better living standard to the people living in the relevant areas, was approved by the Cabinet:

* renovation of housing units under the National Housing Development Authority at a cost of Rs.5.6 million; and;
* development of infrastructure facilities of the under-served settlements in the city of Colombo at a cost of Rs.10 million.
