Promotion Day for Grass Growing in respect of Milk Production

- presently the country producers nearly 40% of its milk requirement and the Government has adopted several measures to increase the production of milk. There are about 2000 farmer - managed - dairy societies in the country with a membership of nearly 70,000 dairy farmers. The proposal made by Hon. Arumugan Thondaman, Minister of Livestock and Rural Community Development, to declare October 30th as a Promotion Day for grass growing, so as to create awareness among the farmers, of the value of natural resources for increased milk production, was approved by the Cabinet.
