Implementation of Regional Development Initiatives on Fast Track Basis

- on the initiative of Hon. Basil Rajapaksa, Minister of Economic Development, preparation of Detailed Plans and Bills of Quantities etc. of development activities in the respective regions, including Provincial Road Development Projects, Weekly Fair Development Projects and Maternity and Childcare Clinics Improvement Projects, have been entrusted to the Central Engineering Consultancy Bureau (CECB), the State Engineering Corporation (SEC) and the Western Province Road Development Authority, which are state organizations. The proposals made by Hon. Basil Rajapaksa, Minister of Economic Development, to arrange for participation of Chambers of Construction Industry, organizations of contractors and accepted private sector construction entities recommended by the District Secretaries, in addition to the above state organizations, when similar projects are expected to be implemented and also to handover the projects of Weekly Fairs and Maternity and Childcare Clinics, on completion of the construction work, to the Local Authorities and other relevant organizations, for their maintenance, were approved by the Cabinet.
