Implementation of the National Human Resources and Employment Policy
- the National Human Resources and Employment Policy lays down key policy priorities for human resource development and it covers a broad spectrum of subject areas including macro-economic and sectoral policies, small and medium enterprises, labour market policies for specific groups and training, management and career guidance. The following are the objectives of the proposed National Human Resources and Employment Policy:

* promote the attainment of full, productive and freely chosen employment for all men and women in Sri Lanka;
* develop a highly competent, globally competitive, multi-skilled and productive work force;
* improve income and quality of life of the working population across different sectors and regions;
* enhance opportunities for workers to qualify for and to use their skills in jobs for which they are best suited; and

On the above proposal made by Hon. D.E.W. Gunasekara, Minister (Senior) for Human Resources, Cabinet approval was granted for the preparation of an Action Plan, for implementation.
