Countering Dengue Vector Mosquitoes by Completing the Policy and Legal Requirements Necessary for the Elimination of the Environmental Factors Conducive to Mosquito Breeding

- it has been observed that breeding grounds for mosquitoes are increasing due to the rapid increase of packing materials, scraps, and polythene bags etc. that are being added to the urban solid waste and also due to the inadequacy of proper methods of waste disposal and that a multi-sectoral an integrated national level programme has to be implemented expeditiously for substituting the packaging materials with environmental friendly materials, minimizing the amount of waste generated and proper disposing of waste materials etc. The above proposal made by Hon. Anura Priyadarshana Yapa, Minister of Environment, was approved by the Cabinet.
