Maintaining a Buffer Stock of Water Pipes Laying of Water Transmission and Distribution Pipes together with Road Development Projects

- the government has already undertaken the implementation of a large number of road development / expansion projects and more projects are scheduled to commence in the near future in most parts of the Island. On the proposal made by Hon. Dinesh Gunawardena, Minister of Water Supply and Drainage, for pipes to be made available to the road contractors well in time for replacing and re-laying of water pipes to coincide with the execution of the road contracts, Cabinet approval was granted to entrust the work relating to replacing and re-laying of water pipes also to the road construction contractors, to be done under the supervision of the Water Supply and Drainage Board.
