Amending the Mines and Minerals Act No.33 of 1992 amended by Act No.66 of 2009

- the proposal made by Hon. Anura Priyadharshana Yapa, Minister of Environment, to formulate a systematic and easy methodology to control the transporting of minerals, such as sand, needed by the public for construction purposes, so that such method could be amended from time to time by orders published in the government gazette based on the needs of the country, and to instruct the Legal Draftsman to prepare amending legislation for the purpose, was approved by the Cabinet.
