Financial Assistance from the Asian Development Bank (ADB) for the implementation of Clean Energy and Network Efficiency Improvement Project

- this project aims to achieve future requirements of Sri Lanka in an environment friendly manner while increasing the clean energy sources to the national grid, thereby improving the efficiency and reliability of the supply of electricity in the country. The proposed project involves construction of transmission lines from Anuradhapura to Vavuniya (55 Km) and Vavuniya to Mannar (70 Km), to strengthen the transmission infrastructure in the said districts and improving the transmission and distribution network efficiency in Western, Sabaragamuwa and North-Western Provinces. The proposal made by H.E. the President, in his capacity as the Minister of Finance and Planning, to negotiate with the ADB and to enter into loan agreements, was approved by the Cabinet.
