Spread of Rabies

- the proposal made by Hon. Maithripala Sirisena, Minister of Health, to adopt several measures to curb the spreading of Rabies in several parts of the country, some of which are as follows, was approved by the Cabinet:

* control of dog population;
* implementation of an islandwide campaign for vaccination of dogs;
* use of quality Rabies vaccine;
* establish laboratory facilities for Rabies detection throughout the country; and
* establish Rabies treatment units in hospitals.
