Maintenance of the multi-purpose Television, Radio and Telecommunication Transmission Tower at Kokavil

- the Government has, under the 'Uthuru Wasanthaya' Programme, accorded high priority to the provision of communication facilities within the Northern Province. With the completion of work on the construction of the Multi-purpose Television, Radio and Telecommunication Transmission Tower in Kokavil, the Radio and Codeless Telecommunication Service Providers have now been able to provide a wider coverage of their services within the Northern Province. The proposal made by H.E. the President, to issue a directive to the Commissioner General of Lands to vest in the Telecommunication Regulatory Commission of Sri Lanka (TRCSL), the lawful ownership of the land on which the Transmission Tower and the buildings connected therewith are located and to authorize the TRCSL to charge from customers the operational cost of the communication centre based on the services provided, was approved by the Cabinet.
