Construction of a Building to House the Faculty of Engineering of General Sir John Kotelawala Defence University
- the faculty of Engineering of this University comprises of six (06) Departments. With the conflict situation in the country being over, this University has now opened it doors to civilian students as well. In 2012 the Faculty of Engineering enrolled its first batch of fee levying civilian students. The Faculty has also engaged in offering degrees to foreign students of the SAARC Region, and is now open for all friendly countries, on a fee levying basis. The proposal made by H.E. the President, in his capacity as the Minister of Defence and Urban Development, to construct a six storied building complex for this Faculty, at an estimated cost of Rs.500 million and to commence project in the year 2013 to be completed in 2015 with funds provided under the Medium Term Budgetary Framework, was approved by the Cabinet. It was noted that the anticipated income of the Faculty per year will be Rs.137 million from 2015 onwards.
