Management of Funds for Purchasing of Paddy of the Maha Season 2011/2012

- H.E. the President, in his capacity as the Minister of Finance and Planning, informed the Members of the Cabinet that due to the increase in the production of paddy, particularly in the Districts of Vavuniya, Polonnaruwa, and Mullaitivu, more funds had to be provided to the District Secretaries for the purchase of paddy. Paddy production in the Maha Season 2011/2012 has increased by 33% and the approved amount of advance allocated to the District Secretaries, which was Rs.1015 million in the previous year, has now increased up to Rs.1340 million. Cabinet approval was granted for the increased amounts released to the District Secretaries.
